for some years now, I make my own deodorant since experiencing a drastic change in my odor, due to uncertain causes. for months I experimented different brands, from traditional supermarket ones, to bio brands. once coming across Laura's recipe, I gave it a try.
I loved the fact that three ingredients are of culinary use!
the recipe ifs the exact one from Laura Singer from Trash is for Tossers: Zero Waste Deodorant How To:
- one measurement of coconut oil (a tablespoon is enough for the measurement)
- one measurement of shea butter
- one measurement of sodium bicabornate
- two measurement of arrowroot powder
- a few drops of essential oils (I use a mix, or you can just leave it without any oil)
mix all in a water bath, until it melts and dissolves completely, mixing it as it melts.
let it cool down aside before adding the drops of oil.
place it in small jar and cool it down in the fridge.
then use it and keep it in room temperature. In the summer, because of the heat, it tends to melt a bit, and it also solidifies in the winter. apply small amounts on your arm pits.
you can adjust the amounts of each ingredient as you wish.
it might stain some type of fabrics, if used in large quantities, so be careful.
this deo is not anti perspirant (which is a good thing!) but is reduces smell!
I take it everywhere I go, and have been using it for years.
gotta love it!
